The government job opportunities for medical officers are on the rise these days. Every month there are medical officer recruitments at different institutes under the Central and State government. These jobs are particularly promising since the starting pay itself comes around Rs. 15600 – 39100/-. In addition to this they are grade pays amounting to Rs. 6600 per month. Apart from these, the government medical officers are also given other fringe benefits like Non practicing allowances, DA, TA, HR allowances and many more making the government jobs sound really lucrative. The entire package is quite attractive, all you need is to qualify the selection criteria and have the zest and dedication to work hard.
To apply for the post of medical officers, you need to qualify a recognized allopathic system of medicines mentioned in the 1st or 2nd schedule or Part-II of the third schedule to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. You should also have completed your compulsory rotating internship and possess a Post Graduate degree/Diploma in the speciality mentioned in section A or section B of schedule-I. In addition to all this you are also expected to have an experience of one and half years after obtaining PG Degree or two years experience after PG diploma. The upper age limit for applying for the post of specialist medical officer is 35 years and 30 years for medical officers. However there is age relaxation of up to 5 years for SC/ST candidates and up to 3 years for OBC candidates.
The application process is pretty simple. All you need to do is to fill up the application form by downloading it from the respective sites. The applications are then sent along with the copies of necessary certificates and credentials if any. The applications are then scrutinized by the selection committee. Applications that do not comply with all the stipulated instructions shall b out rightly rejected. The selected candidates shall further be called for an interview followed by medical examination. The medical fitness test is the final procedure and once the selection committee is convinced that the candidate is physically fit for the post, he/she gets appointed as medical officer with a probation period of one or two years.
