Government of Kerala, conducts Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test (K-TET August 2012)
Qualification : A. Category I: (for Lower Primary classes) : (i) Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and two year Trained Teachers’ Certificate (TTC) [by whatever name known] conducted by Board of Examination; Govt. of Kerala or its equivalent. OR Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or itsequivalent) with at least 45% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations 2002 OR Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) OR Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2 year Diploma in Education (Special Education). (ii) A diploma/degree course in teacher education recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) only shall be considered. However, in case of Diploma in Education (Special Education) and B.Ed. (Special Education), a course recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) only shall be considered. B. Category II: (for Upper Primary classes) : (i) B.A. / B.Sc. / B.Com. and 2 - year Diploma in Elementary Education/Trained Teachers’ Certificate (TTC) [by whatever name known] conducted by Board of Examination, Govt. of Kerala or its equivalent. OR B.A./ B.Sc./B.Com. with at least 50% marks and 1 year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.) B.A./ B.Sc./ B.Com. with at least 45% marks and 1 year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) regulations issued from time to time in this regard OR Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) OR Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A. Ed or B.Sc.Ed OR B.A. / B.Sc. / B.Com. with at least 50% marks and 1 year B.Ed. (Special Education) C. Category III (For High School classes) : Those who possess minimum educational qualifications as delineated here under are eligible to take the test (K-TET III.) The test is for HSAs in: (i) Malayalam (ii) English (iii) Hindi (iv) Sanskrit (v) Tamil (vi) Kannada (vii) Arabic, (viii) Urdu (ix) Social Science (x) Physical Science (xi) Natural Science and (xii) Mathematics Minimum Qualifications for K-TET III (i) Those who have acquired a Masters Degree in the subject concerned (with not less than 45% marks) and a B.Ed. Degree in the subject concerned (from any one of the Universities in Kerala or have acquired these qualifications from any other Universities recognized as equivalent thereto.) (ii) For Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology, those who have MSc.Ed. Degree in the subject concerned with not less than 50% marks from one of the Regional Institutes of Education sponsored by NCERT will be eligible to apply. For Botany and Zoology, those who have MSc.Ed. Degree in Life Science (with not less than 50% marks) from one of the Regional Institutes of Education are also eligible.
Examination Centres : Pareeksha Bhavan, Kerala reserves the right to identify examination centre anywhere in the State of Kerala. The examination centres will be announced after inviting applications from the candidates. Provision will be there in the application form to opt a district/educational district.
Fee for Application (Exam Fee) : The Exam fee for Paper I (K-TET I) is Rs. 500/-(Rupees five hundred only);. Application fee/ Exam fee for Paper II (K-TET II) is Rs.500/- (Rupees five hundred only); Application fee/ Exam fee for Paper III (K-TET III) is Rs.500/- (Rupees five hundred only). Fee for reserved categories such as SC/STand differently abled categories is Rs.250/- each (Rupees two hundred and fifty only). The candidates have to remit the Exam Fee in cash in the SB account (A/c No. 67186142559 Kerala TET) to the selected branch of State Bank of Travancore.

Desirable:

Qualifications common to all categories of PGTs except Cat. No. 19 : (i) The subject in which Post Graduation is done should be one of the subjects in Graduation; and (ii) B.Ed. with 50% marks from recognized university/institute. However, in the case of candidates who have qualified National Eligibility Test (NET) or M,Phil with 50% marks from recognized university/institute, condition of B.Ed. will not be applicable; and (iii) Matric with Hindi/Sanskrit or 10+2/B.A./M.A. with Hindi as one of the subject; and(iv) Certificate of having qualified State Teacher’s Eligibility Test (STET)/ Haryana Teacher’s Eligibility Test (HTET)/National Eligibility Test (NET). Further, the condition of STET/HTET will not be applicable in the subjects of Music and Fine Arts; and (v) Proficiency in teaching in English and Hindi medium; and (vi) Consistent good academic record; and (vii) Conversant in IT skills and effective use of new technologies as tools for learning. (viii) Essential qualification (EQ) is given with each post. Desirable for all categories of PGTs: Teaching experience from Government/ Recognized / Progressive Public School/College/ Polytechnic; not below the rank of Master/TGT.
Pay Scale : Rs.38,300/-, Rs.30,060/- and Rs.25,750/- respectively.
Age as on 31.07.2012 : For Category No. 2 : 21- 40 years and For Category No. 3 : 18-40 years
Application Fee : The rate of fee is Rs.300/- + Rs. 20 (Bank charges) for General category candidates and Rs.75/- + Rs. 20 (Bank charges) for SC/BC/ESM/PHC candidates of Haryana state. The fee should be deposited in any branch of State Bank of India under code/account number 30164102059.
